swamp update

I’ve been watching Gustav stuff all morning, and it’s not looking good.

It’s heading from New Iberia (I’m glad Elle and family went to Houston) straight for Lafayette and my family, dammit all. There are no reports of damage or injuries yet, thank goodness, but the eye’s still over New Iberia, so it’s not over yet.

I’ve been watching the live cam at the Lafayette Advertiser, which I can sum up thusly: “Shit-tons of rain and trees blowing sideways. Also people out in cars, the idiots.” A couple Advertiser reporters keep popping in with audio-only live updates, so clearly they’re still ok & have power, which is good.

Fingers still firmly crossed.

Just found your blog. My daughter went through Gustav alone. She made it OK. Hope your family did well too. We used to live in Lafayette and my daughter’s boyfriend is from New Iberia. I know a number of New Iberia people. Small world!
